Madam nahi hai...

    As usual we went  to a nearby chai shop for our evening snacks and tea. After being contented we planned to buy some food stuffs. We went to the adjoining shop. It could neither be described as a supermarket nor as a small kirana shop. We had enough cash for the purchase but these guys were not buying... they were in fact stocking (as if we are to face tsunami here in chennai ) . 

    "Miss 1102 rupay ho gaye... 2 rupay dene padenge ya aap discount doge..."  

"Sorry! sir, we dont give discount" ... "hmmmm..."  While paying cash we found that we have ran out of cash...Then suddenly one of my friend sighed relief at the sight of "We accept VISA card"... "chalo achha hai..." . 

  The lady at the counter was enjoying the ongoing melodrama. And she said " No sir we can't accept card now"  "ab  kya hua" ... "why cant u accept card, miss ?"... "is connectivity not thr?"......."no sir, Madam is not here..." came the pat reply... " WHAT... what does that mean?" Sir! madam who does this work is not here..." 

    "Did i hear it correctly... since madam is not here she won't swipe card !!!... miss ek to aap saamaan nahi rakte ho upar se kahte ho Madam nahi hai...this is too much "... said  Som (unreal name). finally we came back to hostel collected money and gave it to her.

    Now this kind of service ... is often seen in places where there is no other such mall in viscinity...  And here retail markets like More, Star baazaar etc... score. They keep various range of products and that to at a price less (though marginally) then the marked price. So why not to go there and buy instead ofhangling with these people over such things... Infact  now retail markets are becoming ubiqutous. You come out of your house, walk a few metres and you find a mall... 

    Though we often have second thought when we discuss this topic... with walmart and reliance coming into this sector they would finish the Kirana shop...bla bla bla... yet when we face such situations, we think, even if for a while,  why don't they open a super market somewhere nearby... Aakhir "madam nahi hai... kab tak chalta rahega...
